University of Portsmouth is seeking to recruit a Senior Research Associate to work as part of project investigating the valuation of ecosystem services in relation to water quality. The post holder will, under guidance of Drs J. Preston and G Watson (PIs), review the literature about the extent of key habitats and species (e.g. oysters and inter-tidal mudflats, eel grasses) and their value in water quality functions. The Senior Research Associate will analyse published data to identify relevant natural capital functions then calculate values at appropriate scales (e.g. harbour, region). They will produce technical and non-technical reports as well as disseminating the results to key stakeholders. The successful candidate will have appropriate BSc and postgraduate qualifications as well as knowledge and experience of coastal benthic ecology and ecosystem services.
This post is funded by the Environment Agency. Candidates must be prepared, and have the ability to travel from different locations as required, as well as a willingness to work flexible hours is essential.
